Dog Health – The 4 Signs to Watch Out For

We love our furry pets and want them to stick around in the family for as many years possible. We try to be around for as long as we possibly can and partly because we get our illnesses treated at once. Our pet dogs, however, cannot always as easily communicate their ailments to us.

So here’s a few things that will give you an idea that your dog probably does not feel very well.

Strange movement and behavior

Perhaps, you are aware of how your pet dog usually acts by this time. So it should be quite easy for you to spot if your dog suddenly behaves differently – and such a change in behavior is not to be ignored. If they are clumsier or more tired, more aggressive, or less playful, then you have to consider that something is possibly up. Stiff, if not slow, movement can indicate that something is wrong as well.

Awful breath

Many people with pet dogs tend to get somewhat alarmed once they observe their dogs breathing more heavily than ordinary (except maybe under the intense heat in the summertime). However, many owners are likely to disregard bad breath. Many are going to argue that the breath of dogs inherently smells bad, right? Yet, if you notice that its breath is less agreeable (if not more disagreeable than normal), then maybe it is because their oral health is getting compromised.

Dwindling or increasing appetite

Dogs are generally quite enthusiastic eaters, making a reduced appetite easily recognizable. A reduced appetite could be an indication of stress, pain, or fever. This, along with loss, should prompt you to visit your vet at once. They might recognize the problem right away, if not perform a veterinary CT scan. Watch out for increased appetite as well, especially if your dog is now eating those food that they normally would not.

Loss of Hair

Hair loss may not be that easy to make out, especially because certain dogs seem to be shedding non-stop and gets their fur pretty much anywhere! If your dog seem to be losing even more hair than they normally should, then you should be able to recognize that something is up pretty soon and this should no longer be ignored. Loss of hair can signal many different issues, including fleas or parasites, a deficiency in nutrition, or a disease affecting its thyroid. But, it may also be a sign of pregnancy – there are some conditions though that will help you rule out that possibility quite easily.
