The Essentials of Animals – Breaking Down the Basics

The Ill Effects of Having Fleas Infest Your Dog

Having a dog as a family pet is one of the best ways to strengthen your family relationship. Siblings oftentimes have arguments and squabbles from petty things, and you may also get annoyed if your kid decides to throw a party while you are not inside of your home. Even so, whatever fights and quarrels each family member is going through between other family members, all of them will be bonding over the love that they have for their pets. Pets are one of the reasons why a lot of families are kept intact, and they are also capable of providing unconditional love to each member as their way of comforting you in times where you need it the most.

As a pet owner, and a dog owner for that matter, you should make sure that all the needs of your dogs are being looked after. Though it requires a lot of things to ensure that your dog is kept well maintained, healthy, and happy, luckily, all of their hygiene essentials are easily available more than ever. Despite their easy access, there is still a need for you to be very observant with your pets.

One of the most treacherous enemies your dog can ever have is fleas. Fleas can be found just about anywhere that can transfer to your dog. However, the most common way for your dog to get them is from other dogs that they get to meet in public or pass along. It is not complex to understand why. Dogs are innately social creatures this is why if you take them for a walk and they see another dog, they get excited and quickly go to that dog. It just takes a quick brush of their dog coats and that can transfer the fleas easily. Flea medications are crucial to your dogs. If you talk about fleas, cure is much preferable than prevention because dogs are natural outdoor animals and they should not just be kept inside.

Below are some dangers when it comes to fleas in your dog that is why you must be very careful that they do not have them.

Your dog will suffer from bites and itching
You can easily spot a dog that is infested with fleas because they have dry, bitten, and flaky skin. This is not what you will be wanting your dog to have, and you will easily know if they have them if they keep scratching themselves in just a gap of a few minutes. The fleas will irritate and bite the skin of your dog, and when you see them scratching, they do this to relieve the itch that they feel. This will then result to your dog getting skin infection that is caused by the buildup of bacteria and them penetrating the blood that is why the health of your dog then turns out for the worst.
